PORT OPERATIVE VACANCIES


Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Operations Department, based at the Port of Liverpool. These positions are permanent nights only.
Role Purpose: To work within a team to carry out operations efficiently, effectively and in a safe manner. To ensure the on-time delivery of planned activity, continuous flow of productivity and high customer satisfaction levels.Initially trained as a Shiphand (Labourer), with expectation to progress into other roles, which may include:
  • Tug Driver
  • Quayside
  • Fork Lift Truck Driver
  • Hatch Clerk
  • Straddle Carrier Operator
  • Gantry Crane Operator
Required Experience
  • Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:
  • Demonstrate honesty and integrity in all aspects of the job
  • A positive attitude towards flexible working and the necessity to work hours as per operational requirements
  • Able to understand and accurately follow management instructions and procedures -Strong communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team efficiently
  • A full valid Driving Licence is essential
  • Adhere to our Safety365 policies with specific responsibility for ensuring the safe working of all staff.
  • Successful applicants will be required to complete the following during their training process:
  • Driver Induction Training
  • Manual Handling Assessment
  • A full pre-employment medical (working at heights and depth perception)

Our client is well known in the industry as an innovative manufacturer of specialist, bespoke fuels products.
Due to ongoing business growth, the company have recently built a new fuel storage tank farm in Cheshire and are now looking to recruit an experienced Operator to supervise operations and manage tankers in and out of the site.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all activities relating to fuel storage and transfer are conducted in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ensure loading, offloading and storage of fuel products is completed in line with HSE guidelines
  • Supervise operatives, drivers and contractors
  • Ensure relevant paperwork is complete; method statements, risk assessments
  • Set up and maintain safety performance indicators
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working in a processing environment; oil/gas, chemical or similar
  • Knowledge/experience of fluid handling, fluid transfer, bulk liquid processing
  • Strong knowledge of H&S legislation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work in an autonomous role
  • Drive/ambition to progress within an entrepreneurial organization.

Container Division

The Port of Felixstowe is Britain's biggest and busiest container port, and one of the largest in Europe. The port handles over 4 million TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) and welcomes over 4,000 ships each year, including the largest container vessels afloat today. 
Container Operations is our core business where we receive vessels and load and discharge containers. We also offer our customers excellent Rail Operations, Examination facilities and Roll-On, Roll-Off facility. 
To support the continued growth of the business we are looking to recruit a number of Port Operatives to drive our internal movement vehicles (IMV) transporting containers to different areas across the Port.
