5618TEU Tasman sails rom Marsaxlokk in Malta with a draft of 9.7 metres to Felixstowe. The pilot onboard requested two tugs for the port swing and berthing portside to Berth 5. The first tug centre lead aft outside the harbour and the second on the starboard shoulder inside the harbour . As Tasman neared the harbour, the Svitzer Sanford headed out to be the first tug and was made fast aft.
Tasman passing 7&8 Buoys, the Svitzer Shotley heads to the Beach End and finds that the lead on the starboard shoulder was almost midships so he radios the pilot and says that a bow to bow would be more ideal as the Shotley would not have a great pull on the bow on the other lead. The crew onboard Tasman quickly changes the lead to centre lead forward and throws the heaving line down to the Shotley and made fast.
