Orwell crossing restaurant is now closed ??????

Hiya, Orwell crossing restaurant is now closed. I have heard it has been bought by a transport company and all staff have been laid off. Does anyone know what is happening there??

Orwell trucks (mercedes benz)have allegedly purchased it and are refurbing the kitchen/ restaurant and will be reopening at some point, toilets/showers and parking only available at mo But Like i say thats the word on the street

Interesting-how are they going to get all the staff if they have laid everyone off? Maybe they will franchise it all out??

I called in at this Transport Cafe "Extraordinaire" and it is a remarkable operation. Few in the UK have this standard. The service from the staff was keen; they showed interest in you the customer. I had to notice that some of the staff were young, and yet they also had this ethic, which is excellent,, I assume this comes from good in-house training.
I personally had an omelette of Ham and Mushroom, because I felt I could not eat a large meal, however the omelette was large and full of ingredients, a wonderful Omelette with side salad, presented very well and with table waiter or waitress service. This as followed up by staff asking if all was ok, they did not know who I was!
A wonderful Semi Mediterranean & Continental environment, with tables having parasols over many of them. I also noted that the continental custom of a long table, with groups really enjoying their meal and chatting to each other, also had a place in this very large serving area.
The presence of many HGV's and white van Men/Women told its own story, there is not doubt that this Transport Café, Truck Stop, Lorry Park gets their vote!
This stop is a must for those who like a good meal at a fair price and something different to observe. If you plan to route this way, make a point of stopping here, you must NOT pass by! Other establishments would do well to try and copy this standard. It cannot fail!
The Orwell Crossing has 14 excellent showers "AND" a 7FT TV SCREEN which has to,,, "SAY ITS SPECIAL".
