Investigators reveal Garry Louis, of Claydon, died while working on upgrade project at Port of Felixstowe

A man has died at The Port of Felixstowe.

Investigators say their inquiries into the death of a contract worker at the Port of Felixstowe could take some time to complete.

Garry Louis, 55, who owned Silver Fox Construction, was working on a berth at the container terminal.

It is understood Mr Louis, who lived with his wife Angela at Old Ipswich Road, Claydon, was near to a concrete-pumping machine when it developed a fault, leading to an accident.

Paramedics were called to the quayside at around 3pm on August 7 but Mr Louis died at the scene a short time later, according to police.
Health and Safety Executive inspectors were called in immediately and an investigation is underway.
The HSE has declined to comment on the progress of the inquiry.
A spokesman for the HSE said: “HSE is investigating alongside police.”
