STAFF at a port’s security firm say they have been forced to get bank loans or borrow cash from relatives to get through after the company went into administration.
Workers at Taylor Made Secure Solutions who provide security at Harwich International Port said they were told last Wednesday just 20 minutes before they were supposed to be paid that they would not be receiving their wages for the last five weeks because parent company Nylon Cactus had gone into administration.
Staff said they were then contacted by administrators Resolve who advised them not to go to work because they would not be paid for their services.
But hours later they said they were asked to go to work by Taylor Made Securities because they would be taken on by Hutchison Ports for the next three months and that every effort was being made to source their wages.
One employee, who asked not to be named, said the 40-strong workforce were worrying about how they would be able to cope without a pay packet in June.
Hutchison ports declined to comment on the situation and nobody from Resolve or Taylor Made Secure Solutions was available for comment.
