  2. Yes, you are right !!!. Thank you London Gateway for taking the port industry back 40 years - now all of the ports are having to follow your dreadful stance due the to greed of shareholders and running a port at a loss until they can get enough work to break even. Once they have their captive market the container rates will go up again GREED.

  3. Disgusting that you can earn more money doing a 9-5 administration job than working every hour under the sun in dangerous conditions. The industry really is finished as being a good career. But as long as shareholders line their pockets thats all that matters (sarcastic)

  4. Actually LG offers better starting salary for operator than Felixstowe does. But you are absolutely right, in both cases is not enough for such a difficult and demanding job.

  5. Its really good to see people joining together against zero hours / banked hours / flexible rostering and all those other posh names for saying - you have no shift pattern / no structure in your life and as for family / kids and holidays NO CHANCE. London Gateway will go down in history as the Port that introduced this to the modern UK Port industry. A special thank you to David Cameron and Boris Bungle for promoting this.

  7. Londongateway has higher basic, better holiday and benefits. U choose to work flexi rosta for higher wage, they invest in ur training then pay you more. If you are unskilled you would never in ur dreams be on such a good contract. I know people at both ports and Londongateway is pathing the way to the future. Of course it is not perfect but it is old ports that have got greedy with the unions that have screwed themselves with bloated salaries.

  8. Never class yourself as unskilled. All dock workers need a skill, above all we need tolerance, tolerance to take the blame when the management get it wrong, tolerance to carry the job when the supervision hides, tolerance for when management cannot manage and we could go on. Yes history has shown us how dock workers shot themselves in the foot, let's not do that again. Also let's have some respect for ourselves,

  9. That money for being on call 24/7 is ridiculous . In such a dangerous jobs as well . But I garrantee cheap European labour will bite there hand off for that !

  10. I am sure they will, look at our local paper at the crime rate and the names reported. You get what you pay for

  11. Does anyone seriously believe that people will stay once they find out what the terms of the contract really mean ?. Or the conditions they will be working in? not me i believe people value their family and social lives more than underpaid dangerous conditions
